Here would be my definition of the word "note";
a location in pitch,
a location in time,
a location on a musical instrument or
a symbol for any of the first three.
--
Bill Wesley
In music, the term note has three primary meanings:
A sign used in musical notation to represent the relative duration and pitch of a sound (♪, ♫);
A pitched sound itself.
A pitch class.
